"Growing up First Nations and in a small town, I had no idea what path to take in my early 20’s until the union offered me an opportunity of a life time. I work hard at my job at the Shell manufacturing site to get the hours I need to complete the first level of the CCW course, but also to eventually become a full, red seal construction craft worker. The union has changed my life for the better and allowed me to buy my first home at 21, after only a year of work! With all of the great things that the union has helped me achieve, I cannot wait to see what else my future with LiUNA holds!"

"Being part of LiUNA Local 1089 has easily been the best decision I’ve ever made. Not only do you get to build a career, you get to become part of a family. I was excited to work for the union and getting a good job helped me learn some essential skills. I was even more excited to be able to take the CCW course (at the 1089 Training Centre), where I learned so much more to take back to work with me. Being part of LiUNA makes me feel empowered and has already helped me in countless ways; from becoming a skilled labourer in the trades to becoming a home owner at 20.
